Thanks to my coverage of local hip-hop over on Super Empty I've been given the opportunity to regularly contribute to INDY Week, the ubiquitous Triangle alt-weekly based in downtown Durham (right under the Nugget office, actually).
My first assignment was to head over to the stately DPAC auditorium to review a concert from Big Sean, who I once loved and have since come to more or less ignore (this is the usual cycle with me and most rappers, it seems). That said, the show was amazing, and shortly afterwards I was back at home giving his latest album, Dark Sky Paradise, a few more spins. Particularly Paradise (Extended). Lord knows I can't stand MikeWillMadeIt but GOT DAMN that beat is amazing.
The show was for NC Central's "Ultimate Homecoming," and also featured Rapsody (who was good) and Rich Homie Quan (who was horrifically bad). Read all about it right here, and leave comments about how good of a column it is.
